Maleny Printmakers Collectables 2021 Exhibition

Back for its 6th year year, Maleny Printmakers is proud to present Collectables 2021 … an exhibition of original, collectable, hand printed fine art prints.

I have been absent from the group’s exhibitions for a few years (my last one was Collectables 2018), and COVID saw the cancellation of the show last year. I’m excited to be back with the group this year. Collectables is such a fun event to be involved in!

When: Friday 10 – Sunday 19 December 2021
Hours: 10am-3pm daily
Where: Munnimbah-Dja, 20 Coral Street Maleny
Opening event: Saturday 11 December, 2-4pm – ALL WELCOME

Visit the exhibition, enjoy the artwork, meet the artists, and consider buying some work.

It has been a challenging two years for local artists – these prints are a fabulous way to support local artists and local business. Please consider buying a print or two – for yourself or a Christmas gift for a loved one. All works are priced at $35 each, and you can take them with you at the time of purchase.

About My ‘Collectables’

I’m still putting together a few prints, and some I have finished and packaged ready for display. You can see them above – the ‘Sky Dancer’ series, inspired by my Sky Dancers artist book.

The Sky Dancer I-V series are mixed-media prints – a combination of monotype backgrounds, linocut prints, hand colouring and (imitation) gold leaf. These were a lot of fun to make. Printmaking, for me, is as much about process as it is the finished piece – I had so much fun in process with this series.

I will also have some new monotype prints on show and for sale. I have been having so much fun printing these.

And I’ll have a few mini reduction linocut prints – repurposed from larger reduction linocuts that didn’t quite make the cut for the original limited edition. You may recognise them?

About ‘Collectables’

The idea behind the Maleny Printmakers ‘Collectables’ exhibitions is to create a space for people to view, enjoy and buy small, collectable prints.

As a group we decided to present an collection of original fine art prints at an affordable price; and we time it with Christmas in mind. This way, you can buy one (or several) pieces of hand printed fine art prints as gifts for friends and family, or something special for yourself.

The size of each print fits into an empty CD case. You can add these prints to your own collections, displaying them in CD cases, or have them framed.

One print from each edition is displayed on the wall. This makes for a very impressive collection of work to enjoy. Editions as stored in trays, so people can look through them all. Any print purchased, be it on the wall or form a tray, can be taken with you on the day. You do not need to leave the print until the end of the exhibition.

With 18 printmaking artists and a mixture of limited editions, open editions, edition variable and monotype prints there will be 100+ unique images to enjoy throughout the exhibition.

Below are a few of the prints I will be including in the exhibition this year:

About the Maleny Printmakers

Maleny Printmakers is a small group of local printmakers, promoting the beauty and variety of printmaking in all its forms. Local equates to Maleny and the surrounding townships, with extensions to international destinations for members who have moved away from the area.

Formed in December 2012 with ten founding members (and I’m very proud to have been one of those 10 🙂 ), the Maleny Printmakers has grown to 25+ members – all of whom are passionate about printmaking in all its forms.
