Meet the Artists at Razorback Gallery

 In In the Media

Exciting developments on the Fine Art Gallery front in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland will re-ignite the solid reputation the region had as an arts centre for South East Queensland. Razorback Gallery has recently opened its doors as Montville’s newest fine art gallery. I recently wrote about the upcoming Meet the Artists Open Day on Saturday 25 August.

The Gallery stocks fine art works from both emerging and established artists, featuring work of a contemporary nature. Painting is the primary art medium represented, but they also show printmaking work – my printmaking work!

Kerry Brown, editor of Come On Up newspaper, published an article about the upcoming Meet the Artists day in the August/September edition. The paper is published by Hinterland Tourism.

Meet The Artists Opening Celebration

The newest addition to the Montville fine art scene, Razorback Gallery, has opened its doors and is celebrating! In a very special day-long event, come on up to the Gallery on Saturday 25 August and meet the artists.

Razorback Gallery offers a contemporary feel with modern fine art in a variety of mediums, from acrylics and oils to limited edition printmaking prints and mixed media collages. The gallery presents work by emerging artists as well as long-established local artists.

In an extraordinary step, Razorback Gallery is run by the artists represented within the gallery. This works to provide the public, viewers and buyers alike, with the rare opportunity to personally meet and engage with the artists.

Wayne Malkin, gallery owner, stated that “Montville has for decades been known as a destination for art lovers. Our aim is to foster that tradition by making more space available for visitors to enjoy world class original works of art. Creating a space for visitors to actually meet the artists in person provides a unique and very special opportunity.”

With the opening event, people are invited to join the day-long celebrations to meet the artists. All artists will have artworks on display. They will be on hand at various times throughout the day to discuss their works, inspirations and methods; with artist demonstrations throughout the day.

Current exhibiting artists include Richard Muldoon, Kim Herringe, Gary Myers, Christopher De Lisle, Laura Vecmane and Chris Postle amongst others.

The gallery is located in the Mayfield Complex at 127 Main Street, Montville (near the Village Green).

Interestingly, the gallery is in the exact same location as the De Lisle Gallery of Fine Art, Montville’s first fine art gallery, first opening its doors in the 1972.

The De Lisle Gallery of Fine Art was owned by Gordon De Lisle, a renowned Australia portrait photographer, and his wife Cynthia. Their son, Christopher De Lisle, is an established artist in his own right, and exhibiting artist at Razorback Gallery. This gallery was renamed the Montville Art Gallery in 1989, moving to its current location across the road in 1995.

Razorback Gallery is owned by Wayne and Tracey Malkin, owners of the long-standing iconic Montville Art Gallery. The gallery is open every day, except for Wednesday, from 10am to 4pm. Enquiries outside of these hours can be made across the road at Montville Art Gallery, open 7 days from 10am to 5pm at 138 Main Street, Montville 4560.
