Meet Me in the Forest – Ten Poems About Trees is a small collection of ten poems about trees, place and paying attention.
The poems grew quietly over time, from walking, watching and listening among trees in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Some began with a particular tree. A bunya. A blue quandong. A eucalypt. A frangipani standing bare against the winter sky.
Others came from standing beneath a canopy and noticing what it held – bark, scent, seed, shadow, scar, season and song.
This book is not a guide to trees. It is not an explanation of them.
It is a collection of small observations and felt responses. A way of noticing the quiet presence trees hold in our lives and landscapes.
The trees in these poems feel like witnesses. They hold memory, resilience, loss, regeneration, beauty and belonging.
This little book also sits closely beside my visual arts practice. Over the past year, I have been making work about trees, forest ecologies and the living connections held within place. Poetry has become another way to sit with those ideas. A way to listen differently.
I’m very happy to share that Meet Me in the Forest will be available for public sale for the first time at Bloom, a group exhibition opening next weekend at The Little Red Cottage in Maleny.
It will also be available at my upcoming solo exhibition, Ghosts of Gondwana, opening in October.

The book is $29, plus postage.
Postage is currently available within Australia ($10) and to New Zealand ($18).
