I was recently asked to create a very special handmade book for a very special commission.
These pictures are the summary of that commission piece.
I loved making this book – everything from selecting the papers, finalising the structure – then actually constructing and binding the book together.
But most of all I loved WHY I was making the it, and for WHOM.
The structure for this book is based on something I learned earlier this year when attending Summer Workshops at Studio West End.
It can be experienced and viewed in a few different ways. And each aspect of the book relates to the intention of the piece.
The book combines a concertina fold stitched with sections and some surprises of colour and handwritten sentiments. The colour pages are gelatin plate monoprints.
It was a pleasure and a privilege to create this book then send it on to its new home.
Kim- the art book structure is amazing and as always your prints are so luscious and colorful. Beautiful!
Hi Carol, thank you 🙏 it was a joy to make. It was based on something I learned at Studio West End’s Summer School. I can’t wait for Summer School next year 🙂
