My Exhibition Submissions
I have been working away on three new reduction linocut prints with magpies as my subject matter. These feathered friends would visit me at my previous home for breakfast nearly every morning for a number of years. Each year I was introduced to new birds born in to the tiding. I watched them teach their young how to hunt and forage for grubs, patrolling the lawn for movement and clues that something delicious lay just below the surface.
And they would sing for me. If I was out in the yard they wandered around my feet. I often sat to watch them, then they would congregate in a circle and launch into song … a most beautiful quintessentially Australian sound. I have literally thousands of photos in my reference library – playing, foraging, singing, teaching, teasing. They have such personality and what I observed to be extremely strong family bonds.
The images below are just a teaser – some work in progress images. I will share their finished prints closer to the exhibition opening date 🙂

Addendum – Opening Night 24 April 2021
It was exciting to finally see the show hung and open to the public. It was a low-key affair given COVID-restricted numbers, but it was great to catch up with exhibiting artists and admire their work. Such a collection of diverse styles and printmaking processes. It was a busy noght, so I can’t wait to get back there again to have a closer and longer look at the work on show.
The exhibition is open daily, 10am-4pm, until 29 May. If you can, please get along – its not often that you can see such a large and diverse collection of printmaker’s prints and artist books in one show.
Read about the prints and their process here; and click here to read about the artist books, including videos looking through and reading each book.
