I’m teaching with Gelli Arts®

I’ve got some exciting gel printing news to share … I’m teaching a workshop with Gelli Arts®!!

Back in 2011/2012, I was introduced to gel plate monoprinting with a Gelli Arts® gel plate. That first experience opened up a process that has become such an important part of my creative and teaching practice. Below I’ve pulled together a selection of prints from over the years:

So it feels very special to now be invited by Gelli Arts® to join their upcoming Your Printmaking Journey online workshop program.

The program begins on 18 October and brings together 13 artists, 13 classes and 6 weeks of gel plate printmaking.

Six weeks of gel plate monoprinting bliss.

My lesson is called Botanical Impressions.

In this lesson, I share my botanical gel plate monoprinting process using a limited colour palette, layered printing and collected leaves. Working with a small selection of colours, I demonstrate a simple print circuit that creates a small series of related botanical prints with delicious visual complexity through the interaction of colour, opacity and transparency.

I also show how I look back through finished prints to find smaller resolved images within a larger printed page, then use those prints in simple finishing projects.

For those of you who have already learnt gel plate monoprinting with me, parts of my lesson will feel familiar. My botanical printing and layering process is something many of my students will recognise.

The broader value of this program is the full line-up. Each of the 13 artists brings their own style, process and way of thinking about gel plate printmaking.

It’s an exciting opportunity to see how other artists approach the plate, build layers, explore colour, work with materials and turn prints into finished projects.

Your Printmaking Journey is designed for different levels of gel printing experience, from beginners through to people who already love working with the gel plate and want fresh ideas, new approaches and creative momentum.

Registration is now open, with the Super Early Bird price of US $149 available until 31 August. After that, the price increases.
