Introducing “The Confident Creative” — A New Workshop Series

Running a creative business can be deeply rewarding, but it also brings unique challenges … navigating websites, marketing, pricing your work, managing admin and simply finding the confidence to share what you do.
When you’re an emerging artist just starting out, or a creative hobbyist looking to step into the business side of what you do, the overwhelm can feel very real.
And that’s exactly why I’ve created a new professional development series of short workshops, “The Confident Creative – Professional Development for Creatives.” These sessions offer clear, practical advice to help you navigate some of the essential yet often intimidating or overlooked areas of your creative business.
Why “The Confident Creative”?
Over the past 7.5 years of teaching printmaking workshops, I’ve had many conversations with artists and creative hobbyists who feel overwhelmed by the business side of their practice. They often feel pressure to do things “the right way,” but aren’t even sure what that way is. Many feel unsure, lacking the confidence or experience to tackle topics like marketing, websites or pricing their work.
With this new workshop series, my goal is to simplify and demystify these important aspects of creative business, breaking them down into manageable, actionable steps.
Each session lasts just 2.5 hours and is delivered in a relaxed, practical and supportive environment. You’ll leave each workshop with clarity and confidence, and several clear actions you can immediately put into practice.
You can choose to attend individual workshops or bundle several sessions—whatever suits your schedule and needs.

Who Am I to Teach This?
My professional background started in the late ’80s and spans more than 30 years across graphic design, advertising, marketing and running my own creative businesses. Throughout my career, I managed small teams, navigated high-pressure deadlines and experienced firsthand the intense, competitive nature of these promotion-driven industries.
It wasn’t always easy. Often it was extremely challenging. My personality didn’t naturally thrive in that high-pressure environment. I faced setbacks, difficult personalities and situations that left me questioning my abilities.
Yet, it was exactly these experiences that taught me resilience, adaptability and perseverance.
Through big mistakes (more than I care to think about) and small victories (probably more than I realise), I learned how to find ways of working that aligned with my personality and values, lessons that still underpin my creative and teaching practice today.
When I shifted to full-time printmaking and teaching, I thought I had left my business background behind.
Instead, that experience quietly supported and shaped the way I built and sustained my current practice as an artist and educator.
