This workshop is all about further developing your process beyond your first Collagraph & Cutouts, Embossing or Etching workshop.
You will have access to the same resources and tools as you did in your first workshop, including Pauline the etching press and Paulette small X-Cut craft press.
Continue to create and print from where you left off and/or create new work. Experiment and extend with the process, with me there to guide and tutor you through the weekend.
This is not about learning new processes – rather building on skills and knowledge previously covered.
Prior attendance at any of the above workshops (Collagraph, Embossing, Etching) is essential.
Workshops and Student’s work
Below are images from the Etching Extension weekend workshops run in 2023. This Intaglio Extension workshop will the first time is have been offered to Embossing and Collagraph and Cutout workshop attendees.
This is not about learning new processes – rather building on skills and knowledge previously covered.
If you attended the Etching workshop – print your original plates, make new plates, experiment with your plates (old and new) and experiment with different inking styles and options, including incorporating chine-collé to your prints.
If you attended the Embossing workshop – experiment with new ideas. Pre-prepare and bring elements to emboss with, and/or create new pieces over the weekend. Incorporate gold leaf and include some inked-up and printed cutout elements with your embossed papers (like in my Field Notes ‘Skys Dancers’ embossed and printed prints).
If you attended the Collagraph and Cutouts workshop – print your original plates, make new plates and experiement with new ideas. Add chine-collé to your prints, incorporate embossed elements and take your collagraph and cutout prints to a whole new level.
Regardless of the workshop you previously attended, I will be on hand the whole weekend to guide and tutor you through whatever you want to achieve over the weekend.
All necessary materials for this workshop are covered in your Materials Fee, including;
– all tools and resources needed to make your etching, embossing and collagraph plates
– inks and other studio materials and resources to print your plates
– printmaking papers, inks and associated sundry items
– tea and coffee, with a light morning and afternoon tea
Everything you need for this workshop is included and provided.
IDEAS – This workshop is all about you and working with what you learned in your first workshop. Bring your own image ideas, and you can look through any of my resource library books for inspiration when you’re here.
PRINTING PLATES – ou are welcome to bring your own plates (etching, drypoint, linocut, collagraph, embossing) to work with over the weekend. If you have paper stencils that you would like to work with (and don’t mind getting inky), bring them along too.
LUNCH – You can pop into town to buy lunch, but it is a few minutes drive and parking can be difficult (Maleny is a popular weekend destination). Therefore I recommend you bring your lunch and maximise the time you have printing and learning in the studio.
Please also bring a studio apron and journal or notebook for taking notes during the workshop.
Participants are advised to wear closed in shoes, and suitable clothing or apron that you do not mind getting dirty or stained.
Gloves will be available for when working with any chemicals and ink. It is expected that you will follow safety procedures and take care when working with chemicals.
To book your place in this workshop, please complete the booking form to the right.
Full payment is required to secure your booking. Payment can be made via PayPal or direct deposit.
If you cancel your workshop booking you may incur fees. Please read my cancellation policy here.
If a workshop does not reach the minimum numbers required, it may have to be cancelled. If this happens you will receive a full refund or an option to reschedule.
Once your booking form and payment has been received I will contact you to confirm you place and advise any special instructions.

I really enjoyed the time to think through the processes, do some trouble shooting on ideas, and even though I didn't get any work through to completion, it really helped me formulate my ideas for a large work. Kim's generous support makes this process so much easier.
-
I really enjoy Kim's workshops because they are well structured and organised. Kim openly shares her depth of knowledge on all her printing techniques . I like the small class size so you feel you get more personal attention and help from Kim. I highly recommend Kim's workshops. I have done 6 so far.

I have just attended my third workshop with Kim. She has always given 110% in expertise, personal attention and patience. Also, its great that all materials are provided and all I need to take are my ideas. She provides a variety of workshops and I am looking forward to booking my next one. one more thing...... her jam drops are fabulous.

I loved the opportunity to explore ideas from the initial [Metal Plate etching] class. It’s a great idea and I look forward to future workshops. Such a pleasure to spend the weekend with a great group of people in Kim’s fabulous studio. Thank you for another great etching experience.
