New Collagraph plates to be made!

 In Collagraph, Journal

If seems that I am on a continual state or ‘preparing’ to print. Life is busy and finding the time and space to actually print has been tricky. That said, I do appreciate the time to at least prepare for my next print run.

I’ve decided to prepare some collagraph plates. I found this beautiful fabric and lace at my local fabric shop. They specialise in textiles from India, and they are simply beautiful. I so often look at a surface or texture and state that “I could print that”, and when I saw these pieces I couldn’t resist.

I’ll combine the lace and fabrics in some collagraph plates; and I’ll also create some plates to print as backgrounds for lino and letterpress work. Can’t wait to see how they print as both relief and intaglio.I’ve not made plates with fabric before, so am curious to see how much detail is retained once glued and shellacked to my board.

So much to do and play with and just not enough time!!!
