Turning pages, telling tales: “Narratives” Artist Book Exhibition returns to Maleny

 In Artist Books, Exhibitions, Workshops

“Narratives” returns to The Little Red Cottage in Maleny from 2 – 11 May 2025, bringing fifteen book artists together for another celebration of storytelling in handmade form.

Last year’s exhibition was a wonderful success – visitors discovering artist books for the first time, pages turned with white‑glove care, and the State Library of Queensland selected four works for its public Artist Book collection.

This year the exhibition coincides again with the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Writers Festival, aligning with their “Connecting Hearts, Minds and Nature” theme. Visit the exhibition and enjoy handmade artist books ranging from sculptural accordions and tiny zines to intricate Coptic‑bound volumes.

I’m honoured to show my new work alongside artists whose books already reside in national and international collections. Wander through the space, meet the artists, and feel the textures that ordinary libraries rarely reveal. Our opening event is Friday 2 May, 4‑6 pm, all welcome.

My Exhibition Submissions

My most recent artist book “Where Wings Gather” is on display at the exhibition, alongside my recent “silent relics: a family album“.

I also have a few small books for sale in the exhibition’s pop-up shop. Several special blank-page Gathering Books made with fine-art book papers and printed papers from the “Where Wings Gather” book are available. And I have made a small limited edition run of the “silent relics” book.
