Meet me in the forest – an Artist Book

Meet me in the forest - an Artist Book

Meet me where the canopy meets the sky to pause, listen and breathe.

Some artworks start with an idea.
Some an image.

This one started with words.
My words.

Meet Me in the Forest is an artist book built around a poem.
A poem of love of place and lived experience.

Meet me in the forest

Meet me where the canopy meets the sky
As the forest reaches the floor
Where seeds kiss the soil
And leaves fall to restore

Listen where the forest speaks in quiet tones
A hum between earth and sky
Where roots weave stories
And memories lie

Rest beneath wings soaring far above
Carrying faith in flight
Where movement meets still
And breath is light

This book asks you to slow down.

It is designed to be displayed in-the-round, as shown above.
And meant to be read page by page.

You hold it.
You turn pages.
You feel paper, texture, edges, weight.

That haptic experience is part of the work.
It’s how the story evolves.

Artist books do this in a way that wall-based work can’t.

They invite closeness.
They ask for time.
They let the maker speak quietly.

If you make artist books, you already know this.

If you’re new to them, try this question – What changes when an artwork asks you to touch it?

For me, the book form:

  • Holds an intimate story without broadcasting it
  • Let’s meaning unfold page by page
  • Takes the reader on an active experience
  • Keeps the work grounded in material and making
