GET READY

Unlike workshops or private tuition sessions, these classes let you work on your own projects or explore new ideas. I’ll be here to guide you, alongside other students, so you can make the most of the studio space, equipment, and creative energy.

If you’re unsure what to focus on, no problem, we’ll chat when you arrive and figure it out together.

START/FINISH TIME

Classes officially run from 9am–1pm, totaling 4 hours.

Feel free to arrive later than 9am or leave before 1pm if you need to.

The studio opens at 8:45am. You’re welcome to come in anytime after that and get settled.

If you can’t make it to a particular session, please let me know so I can plan the studio space accordingly.

MATERIALS & WHAT TO BRING

You need to supply most of your own materials.

You’ll need to supply most of your own materials. Below are links to materials lists for various printmaking processes available in the studio:

Each list highlights what’s essential, what’s provided to help you get started, and which items are for sale in the studio (prices may change, so confirm with me). You can also check out my blog post on favorite printmaking papers for guidance on paper selection and where to find supplies.

If you’re unsure what to buy or bring, don’t worry – I have basic tools and materials on hand to get you going. We’ll sort out the rest as you settle into your project.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

You’ll have access to:

  • Printing presses, studio work areas and the studio library
  • Wash tubs and cleaning solvents as needed
  • Light morning tea (tea, coffee and a light morning tea)
  • Kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and cutlery

The materials lists above detail other inclusions, but if you forget something or have questions, we’ll figure it out together in class.

SAFETY

You’ll be working in a functioning professional printmaking studio, so please:

Wear closed, comfortable shoes and clothes (or an apron) you don’t mind getting messy.

Follow any safety guidelines when using tools and materials. I’ll go over these as they apply to your chosen process.
