Ready to get into the Christmas Spirit?
Do you like the idea of printing your own Christmas cards?
Join in this one day Print Your Own Christmas Card workshop and print your very own set of hand printed cards, with matching envelopes. You will have a lino plate that you can use again for next year; and time permitting, we can explore ways to incorporate your design into wrapping paper and envelope inserts.
This workshop is much the same as Linoprinting 101, but with a specific Christmas theme. If you have never used lino before, you will learn how to use the carving tools, then carve and print your image.
This workshop is suitable for beginners to intermediate, all ages over 16.
Scroll down, or click here, to read what past students have said about this workshop.
Whether you are new to lino printing or have printed with lino before, this is a fun workshop to get into the Christmas spirit. We will cover how to plan a Christmas design and transfer it to the lino; how to cut and carve the lino; how to ink up the lino and how to print it. While carving I will show you various mark making techniques.
You will print your own set of 20 hand printed Christmas cards, with matching envelopes. Time permitting, we can explore ways to incorporate your design into wrapping paper and envelope inserts. Additional blank cards and envelopes will be available for purchase so you can continue to print at home.
If you don’t get your 20 cards printed during the workshop, you will be able to finish printing them at home. I will show you hand printing methods, as opposed to using a printmaking press, so you can easily replicate the process at home with minimal equipment.
All necessary materials for making your hand printed Christmas cards are covered in your Materials Fee and provided for this workshop.
– tracing paper and drawing materials to create and transfer your image to a lino block
– lino block approx A6 in size
– 20x A6 quality blank Cards for printing, with matching envelopes
– inks, rollers and other printmaking supplies needed to carve, ink and print your print
– tea and plunger coffee, with a light morning and afternoon tea
– lots of Christmas spirit and cheer
Additional cards and envelopes will be available to purchase if you want to continue making cards at home. Blank card with matching envelopes sets (10 cards/envelopes per set) will be available for sale for $9 per set, or $5 per 10x cards and $4 per 10x matching envelopes.
Everything you need for this workshop is included and provided.
Lunch. You can pop into town to buy lunch, but it is a few minutes drive and parking can be difficult (Maleny is a popular weekend destination). Therefore I recommend you bring your lunch and maximise the time you have printing and learning in the studio.
Your design ideas. If you have something specific you want to print, bring your ideas along. But fear not if you are a little stuck for inspiration as I will have plenty of suitable images and ideas on hand for you to use and reference.
Please also bring a journal or notebook for taking notes during the workshop.
Participants are advised to wear closed in shoes, and suitable clothing or apron that you do not mind getting ink on. The inks can set permanently on fabric.
In this workshop we will print with water based inks, so washup of tools and hands will use soap and water, not potent cleaning chemicals.
We use sharp tools to carve lino. You will be given instruction on how to hold and use the tools, and it will expected that you follow instruction and take care while using them.
To book your place in this workshop, please complete the booking form to the right.
Full payment is required to secure your booking. Payment can be made via PayPal or direct deposit.
If you cancel your workshop booking you may incur fees. Please read my cancellation policy here.
If a workshop does not reach the minimum numbers required, it may have to be cancelled. If this happens you will receive a full refund or an option to reschedule.
Once your booking form and payment has been received I will contact you to confirm you place and advise any special instructions.

I attended a Xmas card linoprinting workshop and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. From the welcome coffee, to Kim's patient and enthusiastic teaching, the quality of supplies and tools we were using, the amazing inspiration from her to-die-for studio and the small group size, to being able to leave with finished hand-made cards and an urge to try more lino-cutting! Thanks Kim, my first class but I think it won't be my last!

I really enjoyed this session and learned heaps, thank you Kim. I loved carving out the lino and seeing the end result transform into something beautiful! I especially liked being able to choose from a range of already tried and tested designs and learning how to replicate it rather than creating a design of your own - this saved loads of time. As well as being happy to help each of us, Kim was very bright, friendly and fun. The venue was excellent and the number of attendees perfect - plenty of room and plenty of fun!!

I travelled from the Gold Coast to do this workshop as I was told Kim Herringe was the best lino print teacher, and indeed she is. Wonderful class, loads of fun, great learning at comfortable pace. Very hospitable and fabulous studio. Thoroughly recommend this class and this wonderful clever teacher. Lesley.

Thank you, Kim Herringe! What an absolutely fantastic day the PYO Christmas card workshop was. To be honest, I was quite concerned about my ability to be able to complete anything worthy of a Christmas card. With my background of no lino print experience, you introduced me to the process and instilled a competence and confidence in me to create Christmas Cards that I am proud to gift to family and friends. Kim, I can’t say enough words about your generosity sharing not only your knowledge, tips and tricks but they way you provide ample amounts of supplies to ensure that everyone not only achieves their goals in your workshop, but also can continue to develop their printing at home. I was able to teach my 12 year old daughter for her to print her own cards the very next day, which was the best feeling!

I recently attended Kim’s PYO Christmas Cards lino print workshop and it was an excellent day. Kim’s passion for this art form is evident from the time you meet her, and her help, guidance and organisation made the workshop fun, interesting and easy to achieve a satisfying result, even as real beginner. It was lovely to meet a group of ladies with similar interests and to hear how their knowledge and techniques have expanded through similar workshops. I would highly recommend one of Kim’s workshops to anyone at all interested in print, and I look forward to attending another next year.
