Elaeocarpus grandis
Blue quandong
A tree’s presence extends beyond what we can see.
Standing beneath a giant blue quandong, I heard its canopy alive with the hum of bees. Their sound drew my attention to the flowers and the small lives moving among them.
The lasercut form comes from a wet cyanotype
made with fruiting blue quandong. Behind it, embossed blue-banded bees, native stingless bees and flower clusters connect that fruit with pollination.
As bees carry pollen between flowers, they help
produce fruit and seed. These small movements belong to the larger story of a forest continuing.
