Eucalyptus
A leaf recalls a tree.
I have always loved eucalyptus, especially its smell. Holding its leaves brings that familiar scent close, connecting the tree with touch and memory.
A wet cyanotype of eucalyptus leaves sits over a botanical monotype of bracken. The leaves rest directly against sensitised paper, leaving traces shaped by sunlight, moisture and chemistry.
The print records their shape, while my experience of the plant extends beyond what is visible: the feel of a leaf, its scent and the tree it came from.
