Archontophoenix cunninghamiana
Piccabeen palm inflorescence
A palm’s future travels on wings.
The piccabeen palm wears its fruit like a jewelled crown of ruby gems. Birds feed on the fruit, carrying seeds from the palm that produced them.
The inflorescence shape is lasercut from a wet cyanotype made with a piccabeen frond.
Behind it, embossed Wompoo fruit-doves and the branching inflorescence give shape to this relationship.
Food for birds offers the possibility of new growth. As birds feed and seeds travel, new palms can take root and carry the forest forward.
