canopy
From the forest floor, I look up. Here, in this book, the view is reversed.
Drone photographs reveal the canopy from above, where tree crowns meet and overlap. This wider view shows the forest’s extent while concealing much of the life beneath its surface.
The photographs and my poem bring together what can be seen and what remains hidden. Each crown belongs to a tree with its own life and relationships, connected to others through the forest below.
Moving through the pages invites slow looking and a shift in perspective. The canopy is a living surface, revealing something of the forest while reminding us how much remains beyond our view.
