Pothos longipes - Candle vine

Pothos longipes
Candle vine

The forest grows upwards as well as outwards.

Candle vine climbs using roots that attach to supporting surfaces. Its stems and leaves occupy spaces between larger plants, adding another layer to the forest.

A wet cyanotype of candle vine sits over a botanical monotype of bracken. Direct contact with both plants brings their different forms together on paper.

Their overlapping traces echo the layered growth of the forest, drawing attention to a vine easily lost among the surrounding green. I love the shape of its leaves, each suggesting a candle and its flame.
