Studio Hours: The official hours are 10am-4pm, with the studio opening at 9am each day. Feel free to arrive anytime after 9am from Tuesday to Friday to get a head start on your day.
Use this special week to further develop your skills. You can focus on honing practical techniques or work on a specific project. The week’s technical focus includes various printmaking and bookmaking techniques taught at The Studio, with opportunities to expand your skill set with new methods.
Techniques include:
- Linocut
- Aluminium metal plate etching
- Collagraphs
- Embossing
- Cyanotype
- Gel plate monoprinting
- Handmade and artist books
Please note that eco-printing is not available during this week.
In the enrolment form below, share your thoughts on what you aim to achieve during the week. If you’re unsure at this stage, no problem! Just indicate the type of processes you’d like to explore (eg linocut, etching, cyanotype). We’ll check in about your goals closer to the dates.
If you’re uncertain about what to do and need some guidance, let me know in the enrollment form and we can chat about it.
In addition to your primary projects, I’m excited to offer some extra ‘play’ processes during the week. As a group, we can choose two of the following activities (or similar) to explore on different afternoons:
- Paper rusting
- Letterpress printing
- Indigo dyeing
- Image transfer
We’ll plan for these sessions on two afternoons, allowing us to dive into one process each day if there’s interest. If you’d prefer to continue focusing on your primary work, that’s perfectly fine too. We’ll discuss the options and preferences on Monday afternoon to ensure everyone gets the most out of their time in the studio.

PERSONAL STUDIO KIT
To make your experience as comfortable and personalised as possible, you are welcome to bring your own studio kit. This can include any specialized tools or materials that you find essential for your work.
ESSENTIALS
- Studio Apron – printmaking can get messy, so bring an apron to protect your clothing.
- Journal or Notebook – keep a journal or notebook handy for sketching out ideas and taking notes during the workshop.
Arriving well-prepared with your tools, materials and ideas will help you maximise your productivity and enjoyment during our focused creative time together.
The Studio is a fully functional professional space.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing or an apron that you don’t mind getting dirty—printmaking can be a messy process.
Whenever possible, we use non-toxic inks, chemicals, and materials. However, printmaking involves various materials and processes, including sharp tools and substances with some degree of toxicity.
You will receive instructions and guidance on using tools and maintaining studio safety. It is essential to follow these instructions carefully.
